Shape Consulting Engineers are proud to have supported Story Homes in the planning submission for a significant new residential development in Burscough, West Lancashire.
The full planning application proposes the delivery of 287 new homes, including a mix of one to six-bedroom properties with 35 percent affordable housing. The scheme has been carefully designed to help West Lancashire Borough Council meet its housing targets while delivering long-term social, economic, and environmental benefits for the local community.
Shape’s civil and structural engineering teams provided key technical support throughout the planning process, ensuring the proposals are robust, cost-effective, and compliant with local and national planning policies. Our work included early-stage feasibility input, infrastructure coordination, drainage design, and structural solutions that align with the site constraints and sustainability ambitions of the development.
The proposed development includes a variety of homes to meet a range of household needs, supported by generous green open spaces and improved footpaths to encourage active travel. It also features electric vehicle charging points and solar panels to promote low-carbon living. The scheme will contribute over 4.1 million pounds through the Community Infrastructure Levy to support local infrastructure and is expected to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth in the area.
We extend our thanks to Nick McGorry and Louie Regan from the Shape team for their excellent work in supporting this submission.
This project represents another strong collaboration between Shape and Story Homes, underlining our shared commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable developments across the North West.
